Country of Origin
The base of the phone says that this devise was made in China. The origins of this specific piece are not clear. However, I did attempt to use Wayback Machine to search the Conair website in the year 2000. Unfortunately, only beauty products could be found. I also attempted to contact Conair by phone and email, but I did not receive any helpful information.

Other Markings
There is a small indentation around the top of the bead-like object.
