Dylan - Axial Led Resistor & Polyester Film Capacitor
Finding any information regarding the origins of my two pieces was very difficult. Neither component had any time of branding or marking on it which led me in any dicernable direction. The only thing that I was able to do was figure out what my pieces were and what their functions were. I did this by looking at diagrams of circuit boards and finding similar-looking pieces which were labeled. I then used a couple of websites and YouTube videos to learn about the functions of those components. At the end of the day, I learned a lot about the components of a circuit board and through the lectures in class about how items are designed, manufactured, and assembled in various parts of the world before they all come together as a finished product.

I was unsure of what was going to be the outcome of this project. I thought originally that there was going to be more components to the phone than there actually were. It was a cheap phone, to begin with, this made finding information on the parts hard. I did the best that I could but there was not special information on the parts because they were basic and mass produced. It was sad to see the phone that had lasted so long will no longer function.

As my group began to dissect and explore the Conair Phone pieces for our Digital Archeology project, I was unaware of what to expect in regards to the "end goal" of this project. We decided to split one to two parts of the circuit board between each of us, and continue the project from there. I found it very helpful to search the number on my part, the Axial Electrolytic Capacitor, and go on websites such as Mouser and Capacitor Guide to help my reasearch progress. I had also decided to contact the Conair company for a part of the work I was required to do, but unfortunatey found no useful information. Overall, I really enjoyed the concept of this project, and would definitely consider doing it again in my own time.
Stefan: Finding information about this component wasn't too bad; however, websites that I have gone through didn't seem legit.

The process of finding the exact location of these two components proved to be one of the bigger challenges in this project. I enjoyed learning how to pinpoint specifics on more common known parts. During this project I was able to find two locations where Conair had made cotracts with China in the early 2000, one of those places being in Hong Kong.
