When we took apart the device, we looked for parts that seemed crucial to its function and that had identifiable serial numbers and date codes. This chip had a serial number and date code that I could easily research; in terms of its function, it was one of the biggest chips on the board and was almost in the center on that part of the motherboard, so it seemed crucial to research.

I had some trouble finding concrete information on this part. First, I did a Google search on the part's serial number. All the search gave me was sites where you could buy the part and how much they had left in stock. After that, I added the year 2004 to the search to narrow it down. I got pretty much the same information. However, I found a site (hkinventory.com) that told me where the part was made. From there, I used the date code website on Canvas to figure out when it was made. There wasn't a note on that very specific part, so I just went by the information I got on the serial number.
