The Circuit Board

These items were the only ones we could manage to track down on the entire circuit board. Most of the numbers printed on the board and the chips on the board led to nowhere. Others were so tiny that we could not tell what they said. The Patch Antenna and the Demodulator were very difficult to track down. The specific part numbers are no longer made, so the parts had to be tracked down via their logos and then searching through each website to find parts that looked similar. The 94V-0 code was very easy to find. That came up by simply typing the code in on Google. The parts we could find all came from Taiwan, though they could not be traced further than that.

SMD Mount Patch Antenna

The SMD Mount Patch Antenna is the part of the GPS that actually connects the device to a satellite. This part is made by the company Cirocomm, which is based in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The exact part number could not be traced. It took some searching on the Cirocomm website to figure out exactly what this was.

DVB-T Demodulator

The Demodulator is an electronic circuit that recovers information from a modulated carrier wave. This part was particularly hard to find. The chip has a crab-like logo printed onto it.  With a little bit of research, I discovered that the company that made the chip is REALTEK.  The company is based in Hsinchu City, Taiwan. The part does have numbers printed onto it, though they were very tiny and very hard to read.

94V-0 almost non-flammable code

This was the easiest thing to find. I typed in 94V-0 on Google and the information popped up immediately. The 94V-0 code means that the device has passed the UL 94V-0 flammability test. This means that it is almost completely non-flammable. In the event that the device would catch on fire, the board would not melt and may even function after the fire is put out.
